Paisley is a Persian design beloved the world over. It features a boteh or buta, which is "an almond or pine cone-shaped motif in ornament with a sharp-curved upper end."
Growing up I saw this design everywhere- on saris, ties, rugs, pillows, ceramics, music posters, bandanas- the list goes on and on.
