This yummy rock candy of an Aqua Aura Quartz was handpicked by yours truly at Lovestoned in Oyster Bay, New York.
(Side note, check that store out if you're a crystal person- it is *chef's kiss*)
Like so many other metalsmiths, I started out with wire wrapping crystals and cold connections with beads and jump rings when I started experimenting with making jewelry.
I always liked how wire wrapped crystals looked, I just always wish they felt a little sturdier. That's not to take away from wire wrap artists, I could just never weave my pieces tight enough to keep anything in place.
Flash forward a decade, and I found a way to give a piece that wire wrapped look with the substantial durability a blowtorch and solder affords you.
A sterling silver wire wrapped aqua aura quartz "nest" sits atop a thick sterling silver band thats been fused with fine silver mesh.
The inside of the band is stamped with "HBIC" and if you know, this ring belongs on your finger.
